ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

This position works closely with the Project Manager and provides an overall management direction for field projects. The PM is responsible for communication between the clients and SDC. They will make overall decisions and recomendations, which impact coporate relationships with clients and vendors as well as project profitability. 

Asses all needs and requirements of the client and project. - resolve any issues that may arise

communicate frequently with the subcontracotrs

oversee and provide guidance 

asses account profitability on a per project basis

prepare, review, and approve client cost estimates in conjunction with the Estimator

be fully knowlaedgable of contract terms and ensure full complience throughtout the construction phase

Manage assigned construction projects including the project timeline and budget

Be fully knowledgeable of prime contract terms and ensure full compliance throughout construction phase

Coordinate with landlord regarding tenant guidelines and ensure that they are adhered to

Manage the construction scheduling and create the critical path schedule

Visit the jobsite on a regular basis to ensure project progress, quality and jobsite safety

Monitor submission of change orders, project closing and reporting requests

Assure all client payments are received in a timely manner - oversee monthly billings and collection; resolve any outstanding issues

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Act as primary contact and liaison between FDI and assigned client(s) and disseminate information where needed

  • Assess all needs and requirements of the client and project.  Develop and implement a plan to service the client

  • Develop and strengthen a professional relationship with clients to enhance client satisfaction - identify and resolve any issues that may arise

  • Communicate frequently with senior management and the Business Development Group regarding the status of FDI’s relationship with the client

  • Advise, train and oversee FDI personnel assigned to a particular account on the client specific paperwork and contract terms

  • Oversee and provide guidance on project allocation to regional offices to ensure maximum operating efficiency - recommend personnel to be assigned to particular projects

  • Assess account profitability on a per project and per client basis - work with Regional VP to maximize the profitability of each project

  • Prepare, review and approve client cost estimates in conjunction with the Estimating Department and the Regional VP

  • Propose value-engineering options

  • Manage assigned construction projects including the project timeline and budget

  • Be fully knowledgeable of prime contract terms and ensure full compliance throughout construction phase

  • Prepare Superintendent evaluation upon completion of each project

 

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in construction management and 10+ years of related

experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and practical work experience

 Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks

 Must have a thorough understanding of industry practices, processes and standards

 Must possess excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

 Requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations and business

correspondence

 Requires the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

 Must have a strong working knowledge of MS Office including strong skills in Excel, Word and

e-mail

 Must have experience with Microsoft Project

 This position will require the employee to visit jobsites. The individual must be able to navigate

a jobsite that is under construction to ensure that proper construction practices have been used.
